A Final Winner!

We skipped racing Friday and came down fresh and ready to race Saturday Morning.

We seem to be getting interviewed on the start line a fair bit and Mal made a comment regarding records that may have lead to some confusion. We presently hold the ANDRA record at 6.357 and the Motorplex track record/PB at 6.063. So far this season we have run under the ANDRA record 6 times but our target is always to better our PB.

3.15pm - A minor electrical gremlin saw Doug get off the throttle early for a 6.60 pass

6pm - ET 6.344 @ 213 mph  versus Pat Carbone lifted us to top qualifier with a -0.606 under index. Interestingly there were 10 cars under index proving again what a tough field Top Comp is.

8pm - ET 6.328 Index 6.95 versus Marchant. Doug was a little sleepy on the line with a 0.38 RT but a trouble free straight pass saw us take the win from Marchant by almost three tenths. We then had to wait to see if the ever consistent Doorslammers of Judd and Zappia pushed us out of the A final.

10pm- ET 6.306 Index 6.63  versus Robin Judd  in the A Final. In a repeat of the Grand Opener meeting A final we were lined up against Robin Judd and his Studebaker. We had to be under the ANDRA record and a good light to bring the score to one all. Both cars pulled great lights, Doug having the headstart by 0.46 seconds. We ran under the record for the win and unfortunately Judd had an engine failure yet still managed a 6.095!
